Flora also leaves behind five grandchildren Aaron Obermann and his wife Tina, Anna Long and her husband Larry, Beverly Thomas, Amy Obermann, and her significant other Brian, and Kristen Thomas. She leaves to mourn her departure three children Darrell and his wife Rosemary of Monett, MO, Paul and his life partner Carol of Springfield, MO and Brenda Thorp of Republic, MO. Flora was also preceded in death by her parents John and Emilie Nobe, two brothers Alvin William Nobe and Erhart Heinrich Nobe, three sisters Meta Knaust, Esther Barber, & Amanda Aufdembrink. On February 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Norbert William Obermann, who preceded her in death on their 27th wedding anniversary, February 18, 1973. Family favorites include homemade bread, coffee cake, strawberry jam, white cake with seven-minute frosting and too many others to mention. Her cooking skills were second to none, and her family enjoyed finding a variety of delicious treats at her home. Flora also crocheted, embroidered, sewed, bowled, and was an avid gardener. She created beautiful hand-sewn quilts which her family was blessed to receive. One of her favorite pastimes was quilting. Throughout her life, she learned to play multiple instruments and entertained her family often with her musical talent.įlora was immensely talented and had several hobbies. Musical talent ran in the family, Flora and her sisters sang with Slim Wilson on the Ozark Jubilee. She belonged to the Freistatt Drum and Bugle Corps, which was formed in the late 1930s. In her younger years, Flora discovered her love of music. Flora attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from there in 1937 and went on to attend one year at Raithel Public School in Freistatt. At the time of her confirmation Flora was given the verse Genesis 17:1 “I am the Almighty God, walk before me and be thou perfect.” Flora was a devoted life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.Īs the youngest of six children, Flora grew up working alongside her siblings and parents in the Nobe General Store. Flora received the sacrament of baptism in April of 1923, and she renewed her baptismal covenant with the Triune God by the Rite of Confirmation. Before her death, Flora resided in Sunshine Manor in Republic, MO.įlora was a lifelong resident of Freistatt, MO she was born in her family home on April 7, 1923, to Johann Heinrich Nobe and Emilie Louise (Holle) Nobe. Flora Marie Wanda (Nobe) Obermann departed this life at the age of 95 on Friday, September 21, 2018.
